The Undergraduate Research Opportunities Program (UROP) provides KENTECH undergraduate students with opportunities to participate in research projects at leading overseas universities, research institutes, and laboratories.
Participants engage in ongoing research activities under the guidance of faculty members and researchers at host institutions. Through the program, students gain practical experience in advanced research methodologies and global research practices, while exploring future academic and career pathways and building international research networks.
Program Period
Approximately 4–6 weeks during the summer vacation, from late June to mid-August
Past Host Institutions
Students have participated in research internships at the following internationally recognized institutions:
Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), United States
King Abdullah University of Science and Technology (KAUST), Saudi Arabia
Fraunhofer Institute for Microstructure of Materials and Systems (Fraunhofer IMWS), Germany
In addition to the UROP, students may independently secure research internship opportunities at overseas universities, research institutes, laboratories, or companies during the summer or winter vacation. Students participating in approved overseas research internships may be eligible to receive financial support, subject to institutional guidelines and approval procedures.
Students are encouraged to explore international research opportunities that align with their academic interests and career goals, gaining global research experience and expanding their professional networks.
